Sovereignty and Waiting

“It was a turn of events from the Lord” (1 Kings 12:15).

Things only stay the same for as long as God allows.

You never know which circumstance will be the game changer. Days turn into months, and months into years, and you think God is asleep and that nothing will ever happen. But, it only takes one event, one decision, one person that God chooses to use in order to change everything. And the direction of change, for good or for worse, is always God’s to decide, not ours.

Maybe you are waiting for the Lord to show His hand.

You think that He doesn’t know about the chaos in the land and the concerns in your life? Do you wonder why He hasn’t taken the steps of action that you outlined for Him in your daily prayers? You ponder whether He really cares, whether He is truly good or not, whether He understands things the way He should. The waiting is wearying to your mind and heart, and still nothing happens.

And then one day everything is turned upside down. And God is doing the turning.

In His own way.

In His own time.
