Prayer Changes Things

“The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much” (James 5:16).

What prayer is not:

• it is not begging or bugging God
• it is not moving God to your point of view
• it is not limited to time or place
• it is not telling God what to do
• it is not a repetition of religious words
• it is not a last resort
• it is not a guarantee of getting what you want

What prayer does:

• it lines you up with God’s will
• it draws you near to God’s heart
• it opens your understanding to God’s thoughts
• it makes you a better instrument in God’s hands

Therefore, “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
